Mrs.

Ft. Knox

After 31 years of active duty my husband and I have been to many posts, however we find none that has the commisary to even compare! Ft. Knox is about 45 minutes from Louisville where we live now that he is retired. We are blessed God sent us here, as our home state is Kansas, but here it has proven to be far greater than the other. Ft Knox clearly takes care of retires fulltime. The hospital (Ireland Army Hospital)is terrific, and the personal (some being civilians)are kind and helpful, continually taking care of all, us retires includ-ed. Louisville is also to start building a new VA hospital, redecorat-ing and turning the old one into a veterans "care facility" of sorts; both are needed and each will be a blessing to retires and families. Cost of living is not high, going to and using the post facilites we usually pay 15 to 20 cents less for gasoline than in Louiville it's self, not to mention the difference in using the commisary and P.X. The weather has been wet and humid this fall, but for the most part good. The summer was hot, but we had no fires! It is a place to retire to and we have only GOOD things to say about Ft. Knox.
