Hunter Army Airfield

Hunter is a great base and the area has lots to do. We reside in Savannah and the beach is approximately 45 minutes to get to. We love our church and the historic beauty of downtown. The area is booming and nearby Pooler has the Savannah airport, brand new outlets, and restaurants galore. Aside from the outlets there are 2 malls. Fort Stewart is a nearby 45 minute or so drive away. Many people live in Savannah or nearby Richmond Hill who are stationed at Ft. Stewart because the area here is much better. HOWEVER, once you leave Savannah, Pooler, and Richmond Hill there is nothing but country roads and small areas for miles upon miles. Hilton Head, South Carolina is about an hour away. Jacksonville, an hour away. The Savannah airport is ranked among the top 5 most expensive airports to fly in and out of and if you are like me with family out of state, you will learn very quickly how painful it is financially to fly. That is 1 of the worst downfalls of the area. Also, you have to be extremely careful where you live. Crime is very bad in parts so you have to pay attention when looking for homes. We are in the Berwick area which is a very large and brand new area and we love it. You can get a very large, new home for cheap here. We have been spoiled with our rental home.
