Beware, if you go to Alaska just because you think you can make money by becoming a resident. Yes you can make the money, cost of living is very high but the state has been coming after military people who change the residence after a couple of years. They got an Officer for $250,000 because he retired in Florida. We thought we could make the money. Schools are one of the worst I have seen the teachers are nice but the district has no money for tools. There are so many web sites out there for any place to be stationed, take your time but explore, don't stick close to home, you are in the military, travel when you can. I am scared to go over seas but I know if I never go I will kick myself when I'm old.
