What can one say about Travis, well it sucks! There are many ups and downs about any base your stationed at but Travis takes the cake. This base should not even be called a military installation it should be called a civilian instillation. This base may have a commander but it is ran mainly by civilian contractors. Where do all the military people work on this base you ask? Flight line, Security Police and the Hospital.
THe people around here are something else as well. Not very nice and you are coming here from the south then your in for a major culture shock. Here you'll see kids with the spiked hair, a lot of road rage, different nationalities out the wazoo and just all together a new land. California should drop off the US and be an island. These people here are exceptional.
There is a lot of things to do here. This is the only plus! Travis is smack in the middle of Northern CA. One hour to Sacramento and one hour to San Fran. If your into beaches then we have lots of those. Bodega Bay, Stinson, Drakes, Muir, and many more. Don't recommend swimming though. Lots of rip tides, sharks and Jellys. The best lake around here is Lake Barryessa where some of the famous zodiac murders happened. This is one beautiful lake. The water is very blue. This a great place for the family or just friends. Barryessa is about 45 min's away.
