I was just at Walmart shopping. I was in the yogurt section when a women (I am going to presume of Muslim faith-dressed like it) who could barely speak English, approached me with a carton of yogurt (she had a small boy in her cart) and asked me in very broken English what today's date was and if October comes before November. I told her the date and answered her question. She was trying to fiqure out the expiration date on the yogurt. She thanked me and went about her shopping. There was a gentlemen, perhaps in his fifties watching all of this and staring at the women and then back at me. He was not happy.
I walked on to do my shopping and thought about this situation. I can't say where this women came from. We have people coming in from the middle east being placed in this country for many reasons. It was obvious that she did not speak English very well but was trying to understand. I pondered this situation. In the world we live in, we have our spouses, kids and so on over in these countries fighting a war, many are losing their lives, coming home wounded if not phsyically but with brain injuries. Who do you trust? Do you befriend someone like this women and help her (and be nice about it) all the time wondering what her situation is or ignore believing that possibly her spouse or even she herself could blow our country up? Was this man that stared and was apparently angry, does he have a valid reason for that or do we just not trust and hate everyone from the middle east??
I am conflicted. Part of me says she is just like I have been, living in a foreign country trying to understand the language and get around. But another part of me wonders should we even trust people like that when we have people fighting and giving their life up believing it is for a better cause for these people who would just assume blow our country up???? The good in me says trust, the military spouse questions. Anyone else?

You have to remember you cannot assume that because she is wearing a full dress/headcovering that she is from the Middle East, I have met people from around the world who were Muslim that came from Somalia, Indonesia, and other places sometimes as refugees. They do have programs through churches and other organizations that are sponsoring these people to come here and get a second chance. You also have to remember that we have had attacks in the past including Oklahoma city years ago that were done by an average looking white person as well. Just because they look Muslim does not mean they are a terrorist.

You are right MJ. But not everyone looks at or views it that way.
