Fort Stewart

Fort Stewart

We moved to Ft. Stewart in April of 04. At first I hated it. We moved there from a pretty good sized city in Virginia so moving to a small town was a big change. But I have to admit the area grew on me. Never had any problem with the civilians in the area, all were very nice. The base is kinda old but they are fixing it up. We lived off post and had a HORRIBLE landlord by the name of Mr. Hall, Do NOT ever rent from him. Right now my husband is in Iraq and I moved away so I am not sure what it is like there for support during deployments, I plan to stay there for the next one. We plan to live on post when he gets back. I have heard good and bad about the housing on post. They built some new ones that look pretty nice. The exchange and commisary are pretty nice. They also have a very nice pool and a couple of gyms that are ok. Savanna isn't to far and it is a BEAUTIFUL place, we love going there. There is also a beach about an hour away that is very nice. Orlando and Daytona Beach are also only a short drive. The weather can be pretty humid during the summer but I was used to that from VA so it didn't bother me much. It also does rain a lot in the spring and summer but usually it is only for about an hour and then stops. Overall I grew to like the area and the people. Only complaints I have are with my husbands unit, but they don't represent the whole base.
