Winter Wonderland!

Hill AFB, UT

This is our second time being stationed here. It is BEAUTIFUL here. Absolutely gorgeous! We are nestled at the base of the mountains so our views are unbelievable! When we first came here in 1996, it was a serious culture shock. After awhile we realized that this is where we wanted to raise a family. There is soooo much to do! If you love the outdoors, there's several great ski resorts, hiking, fishing, boating, hunting ... you name it, we have it. There's great shopping as well. Just to give you an example ... there are 5 (yes, I said five) Super WalMarts within 15 minutes of base. We have 2 malls and countless other stores and wonderful restaurants with new ones popping up monthly! We also have some great museums and a fantastic children's museum, aqaurium, and zoo! There's also gambling in Wendover, NV just a few hours away! What else???? Ok, the weather ... we are high desert ... we have all four seasons ... we get snow (and right now we have LOTS!), and in the summer it hits 100. Off base housing ... In my opinion Roy is a wonderful city to live. It's near a 24 hour base gate and in a great central location. We bought a house in Roy almost 2 years ago and we love it. Layton is also by a different 24 hour base gate. There are so many little cities here and they all run together ... if you're curious about the housing market, let me know ... I work in real estate and I can point you in the right direction! :) The only school I really know is Hillfield Elementary ... which is the elementary school children living on base go to. The school is off base, but there is a direct access walk-through gate at the back of the school which is open during drop-off and pick-up times.
