We have been stationed at Lewis for about a year now. If your are an out door person who loves to camp, hike, white water rafting, canoe trips, and if you love the rain, this place is for you. We were blessed to rent in the nice city of Lacey, greatest thing we could have ever done. Although they are building new housing on post. The post is small compared to Carson and Benning. My advise is do not rent in the towns of LAKEWOOD, STILLICOON,or TACOMA PERIOD but that is just my opinion I WOULD ADVISE Lacey, Olympia, Tumewater if you dont mind 20-30 min drive. Dupont which is 5 mins from the gate beautiful if you can find a house to rent or buy ALOT OF MILITARY. Its pretty pricey, but BAH is great here. over all not my cup of tea, rains to much and for a place like this, there should be more inside things to do. I would not recommened this duty station as a request. oh yea Lewis is now called JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCORHD, the housing on the AFB is way better, and if your army you are allowed to get housing on the AFB. Husband picked up E7 got a special assignment to EGLIN AFB WERE ARE OUTTA HERE!!!
