Fort Drum, NY-Cold, jobs

Fort Drum NY

I have been here a year, I have never been to another base, so I really cant compare, but I did live in sevral diffrent citys before I got married...... I do not tolerate cold well, so I really dont like the North Country. I call it a frozen wasteland. It can easily snow 3 or 4 feet in a night, it will bury your car. They do give every driveway a snowblower and a class on how to use it. There is also salt at the self help center. You can NOT park in the streets in the winter, I think its posted from oct 1 - april 1. Get a heavy duty snow brush/scraper, a remote starter is nice too, and before it snows get some snow wiper blades on your car, regular ones even with high heat on the windsheild just dont cut it. The summer seemed mild, they dont even provide air conditioning in my apt. But there were only about 2 or 3 days that we could have used it. Jobs are very difficult to find, especilly when everyone is deployed. Watertown is about 8 miles away, but it is not the best place to be. The easiest jobs to get are food service, especilly Denny's because they have a very high turn over.
