Fort Drum NY - Mall, TI

Fort Drum NY

SALMON RUN MALL: Salmon Run is on Arsonal st just off 81. Comeing from larger citys this mall seems small, but at least it isnt a strip mall (in this wheather that would not be good). There is only one leval, you can easily walk from one end to the other, and there are no playgrounds for the kids. This is where the majority of the chain stores hide out. There is a Borders bookstore, Victorias Secret, Hot topic, among others. There is also an indoor car lot, and a small movie theater without stadium seating. The food court has annie anns, cajun cafe, taco bell, and more. I would reccomend going there just to look at the military info booth in the food court, there are all kinds of fliers there. And if you dont have a car I hear there is a free shuttle there from the PX. THOUSAND ISLANDS: They are about 30-50 min from base. There is definatly more to do there then in Watertown, especilly in the summer. Its a tourist area. There are sevral castles. My husband and I went up to alex bay and saw the fireworks over Bolt Castle, it was very beutiful. If we are still here next year we think we may get a room over looking the water so we have a nicer spot. There are also go-kart raceing places, arcades, an 'aqua zoo', and more. I also found out about the Sterling Renaissance Festival when I was in Alex bay. Sterling is near Syracuse, and the festival runs every weekend in the summer.
