It was a small base near Ocala, no nex, no commissary, everything was off-base well to go to the hospital we had to drive 45 minutes to NAS JAX or NAS CECIL FIELD. bUT i STILL LIKED IT OVER THERE, THE PEOPLE WERE FRIENDLY, We lived in Leesburg, and Eustis, we used to go home to merritt island every other weekend, and cocobeach and orlando. orlando was not that far. daytona also. so i can say it was still ok to be stationed there. at least we were away from the military bases, we mingled w/ civillian folks a lot. myexperiences there was totally awesome. too bad no more det astor or cecil field .i miss the area sooooo much.
